Configuration for internet performance
Configuration for internet performance
I just improved my internet speed from 100/10 mbps to 300/30 mbps. I own a 1gbps ethernet controller with cat5e, a 1gbps+ router and a 1gbps+ modem. My ISP upgraded me because my upload reached 30mbps, and the router confirms it’s getting 300/30 from the modem. My Intel network settings show only 100mbps and it’s restricting it. Even with a 1gbps limit set, it still reports a 100mbps connection. Is there a way to resolve this? Also, I checked the cable. EDIT: FIX FOUND.
Confirm if the modem is intended to function as a router and check its port configuration.
You're referring to a router with 100 megabit ports for LAN and one gigabit port for WAN. Could you clarify which specific model you're asking about?
I resolved the issue by switching to various wire segments that might have caused the problem. I identified the correct one, repaired the connections—remembering how to splice a Cat 5e cable when I was younger—and verified it now shows 1000, indicating success!
