Concerns About Overclocking GTX 1060 3GB
So tonight I pushed my GTX 1060 3GB overclocking to see if I could squeeze out more performance, using MSI afterburner and running benchmarks. Following the instructions from various online sources, I increased the clock speed by about 20 to 30 MHz, checked for any issues, and repeated the process. For reference, I set the maximum temperature limit at 84 degrees Celsius. Once the card reached 205 MHz without any errors, I felt a bit worried and paused. Even though there were no visible problems, I wanted to verify that this overclock was safe as long as the temperature stayed at the max limit and the benchmark results remained stable. Also, I was curious about whether general GPU overclocking is safe—every source I checked seemed to agree, but I’m still a bit cautious. Sorry if I’m new to this, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
It looks like you got a good GPU setup. Running +200 is quite strong. As long as the GPU runs games smoothly and doesn’t cause crashes, and temperatures stay normal, everything should be fine.
I’ve kept my GPU overclocked for about three years. I gradually increased the settings until it failed, then reduced them back. Since then, things have been stable.
I usually use MSI Afterburner—it works with all GPUs. I appreciate the ability to create custom fan profiles and monitor performance data. Have you tried it?

I’ve overclocked my GPU for about three years now. I kept pushing it until it failed, then lowered the settings. Since then it’s been running well.
