It seems like someone tried to trigger Windows using a command prompt line, but I’m not familiar with CMD or how it interacts with the system. They might have thought it would work like downloading drivers or some other automated process. This could be risky if the connection was to a remote server. There’s no clear indication of network exposure unless the setup involved external access. You should check your system logs and consider consulting IT support to confirm any risks.

We'd need to understand the command line. There are definitely methods when enabled to make it freeze and restart in that manner.

They were persuaded through a suspicious message or email. The specific command wasn't mentioned, but there was no legitimate activation key provided. It seems like a phishing attempt was involved.

It mentions 'kms' in the context of activation methods. The system can be started through a KMS server, which helps manage Windows keys and prevents reuse. Some third-party servers allow repeated key usage without restrictions.

Impressed by a colleague. He received a GitHub download with CMD scripts. I thought he was guided through each command carefully, but it wasn’t. I won’t try to connect this link, though it appears as the top result for "microsoft-activation-scripts" on GitHub.

According to the GitHub notes, it employs HWID, KMS38, and Online KMS.

Family member likely used a specific code such as 1111-1111-1111 on a third-party site to sign up. No major concerns here—computer won’t blow up, Bill Gates won’t open your door, and so on.

I think my main concern was that the link to that server worked in both directions. GitHub also mentions it has been improved by reducing antivirus alerts.
