I'm experiencing an unusual scenario that's hard to understand. Whenever my computer goes to sleep and someone switches on the light or activates the bathroom fan, it starts up again. I think this might be related to a shared power source or circuit. It could be due to a faulty fuse, but I'd like to hear from anyone who might have insights into why this is happening.
The PC activates upon detecting input from an HID device like a mouse or keyboard. I believe your optical mouse operates on a surface that allows light to pass through, such as a glass table or semi-transparent material. When illumination arrives, does the sensor capture it, or is the light coming from another room where the PC isn’t receiving it?
This might relate to HDMI-CEC functionality. It could also involve Wake on LAN or USB, but I focused on HDMI-CEC because it responds to power. Consider turning off HDMI-CEC on your TV for your PC or monitor. In Device Manager, set "Only allow a magic packet to wake up the computer" for all USB devices. Disable Wake on LAN/USB settings in BIOS as well, and turn off any resume options tied to PCI-e drivers. Some hardware supports multiple wake options—your setup may have separate LAN and PCI-e resumes. Adjusting these settings might resolve the issue.
It seems the USB settings were the issue. I’m not sure if it’s connected to the electricity or the power supply, since the PSU should manage voltage. Could be a bad PSU or just a Windows bug that persists?
