Hey everyone.
Just settled into a new place, and within about two days these problems started.
The computer freezes completely after playing games for roughly 10 to 15 minutes—no BSOD appears. It either freezes at the first in-game frame, or the screen goes black and both the keyboard and mouse disconnect (both are RGB, so it's clear they're not working).
The games I've tested are:
- Baldurs Gate 3
- Sims 3
- Overwatch 2
- Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous
My setup is:
- Motherboard: MSI B550M Pro VDH-WiFi
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (with stock Wraith cooler)
- GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600
- RAM: 2 x XLR8 8GB 3200MHz (total 16GB, from another build about 3 years old)
- Storage: 2 x Kingston SSDs (256GB and 1TB), 1 x Seagate Barracuda (2TB)
- Power supply: Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 650W
I attempted to run OCCT on a different monitor while playing BG3 to investigate, but the CPU was running around 80–90°C before the crash. The GPU fans also seem to stop spinning once the system crashes, though everything else continues after that point—still unclear.
I've tried updating and downgrading the GPU drivers without success, run memory tests on RAM, performed disk and DISM checks for storage.
I'm a bit cautious about reseating any parts since the GPU has previously caused issues with disconnections and re-setting.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

MOBO: MSI B550M Pro VDH-WiFi
Current BIOS version for your motherboard?
Updated and downgraded GPU drivers have not worked.
Recommend using DDU to uninstall all GPU drivers (Intel, Nvidia, AMD) in Safe Mode, then install the newest driver from AMD's support site via an elevated command—Right click installer > Run as Administrator.
Perform memory tests for RAM using memtest, 10 passes?
Power supply unit: Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 650W
What is the age of your PSU?
The CPU was running around 80-90 degrees Celsius before the crash.
Try placing a fan near the VRM area of the motherboard and observe if it improves stability. Regarding temperatures, you didn't mention the case model. Additionally, if your case components have dirt or debris, consider cleaning them and reapplying thermal paste to the cooler to see if that resolves the issue.
By the way, after moving into your new setup, did you reinstall the GPU in your build?

MOBO BIOS was 7C95v2G2 and has now been updated to 7C95v2L (avoiding a beta version this time).
Tests in several games (BG3 and various Overwatch titles) showed temperatures staying steady around 80°C on both platforms, with no crashes observed. This appears to be the recent improvement.
I plan to explore upgrading the CPU cooler for better thermal management.

Other answers:
- DDU drivers were used
- Memory checks were performed using memtest and Windows built-in tools
- Power supply is only one and a half years old and has a gold plus rating
- The case is a SilverStone Fara R1 PRO V2, all fan slots filled; it was used in previous builds and performed well. It was cleaned before installation, so no dirt inside.
- The PC was moved without disassembly, so the GPU wasn’t re-seated.

Thanks for your assistance!
