Computer fails to start following maintenance.
This situation is really confusing for me. I just cleaned out the GPU and blew away the dust, just like always for 34 years, but this time the computer won't do anything at all! It feels like it has no power. I've double-checked everything I've done and tried different things—different PSU, various cables, left the GPU out, used internal graphics. All connections seem fine, the switch on the PSU was on, and still nothing happens. I'm completely stuck and don't know what's wrong.
In such cases it might be useful to employ a meter or purchase an affordable tester to verify if the power supplies provide accurate readings. If they are modular, one should ensure the correct cables were used during troubleshooting. Beyond that, testing individual components separately on known working parts can be challenging for many PC users. The final choice would be to bring it to a professional or an enthusiast for evaluation.
Considering the value versus cost, is this system a reasonable investment for someone who wants a low-end build to have a professional inspect it? Besides, there could be items you want to retain, which adds another layer of complexity as a backup concern.
