Computer fails to power up and the z370 chip becomes overheated.
Hi. I received an old PC from a friend that initially worked but now isn't booting through the BIOS. I'm new to PC building and diagnostics, but I'm not sure if it's even starting to function properly. The parts listed are:
Intel i7 - 8700
AMD rx5700xt
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 32 GB (it's a 4x8 kit)
Gigabyte Z370 HD3 motherboard
Corsair CX 750M
Samsung 2TB SSD (I think it's an 870 but it's difficult to remove from the case)
There is no NVMe drive. The problem seems to be that nothing appears to be working, but the Z370 chip gets very hot. None of the lights or fans are turning on. Anyone have any ideas about what might be going on? I've checked all the cables and they seem fine, and I made sure everything was properly seated.
I tried it out and also checked the PSU. There was nothing in the simplified version, but the PSU worked well. It seems like I might have lost the motherboard.
