Hi everyone, sorry for any confusion. I’m facing problems where my keyboard and mouse aren’t waking the computer from sleep mode. They’re connected via USB ports on my monitor, which is plugged into a Startech USB-C hub. The setup looks like this: Keyboard/Mouse → Monitor → Hub → PC Monitor (Asus XG27AQ).
I’ve tried several fixes: turned off Hybrid Sleep, used Device Manager, and disabled the option to prevent the PC from turning off USB devices. My GPU is an AMD 5800X and I have a Startech USB-C 7 port Mobo.
What else have I done? I’m keeping my PC on a shelf to reduce cable clutter and avoid having to press the power button to wake it up. Let me know if this helps!
First: Does your display keep USB ports active when it’s off? If not... nothing further will assist. Confirm this behavior for each item in the USB Chain, mouse, keyboard, monitor hub, and Startech hub (availability may vary). This step isn’t guaranteed to resolve the issue, but it’s a solid beginning.
1.) Open Device Manager, navigate to YourDeviceHere, pick your keyboard, adjust properties, set Power Management, check the box for “Allow the device to wake the computer.”
2.) Verify your power plan: Go to Control Panel → Power → Advanced power options → Sleep settings → Disable Hybrid Sleep if it appears; switch to High Performance and ensure USB suspend is off.
3.) Ensure advanced power-saving features aren’t turned on in BIOS.
4.) Preferably, set your system to use S3 sleep mode. You might not see this option in the BIOS guide.
5.) If none of these work, double-check that your BIOS is updated to the latest release (as of December 2022). Sleep settings can change frequently.
So much. It seems like a mix of things happened. First, I turned off Hybrid as requested. Second, I realized one of my HID keyboards (Logitech) was leftover from an old BT keyboard that didn’t let it wake up when asleep. After deleting the Phantom HID KB, it worked fine so far. The main question is whether it will keep functioning. Thanks again for your help! I really appreciate it! *** Edited *** I meant to be more careful. I believe the problem might be with the HUB—so I’ll disconnect each part and check if I can identify the issue.
