Hello everyone, I'm assisting a friend with his PC issue. He was using it normally until it abruptly restarted with flashing yellow lights. I attempted to boot with just one RAM stick, but it wouldn't start. The other side lights would switch between CPU and DRAM, and when I added the second RAM module, only the DRAM light would blink. I've tried several steps so far: checking each RAM stick separately, resetting the CMOS, inspecting the CPU pins, testing a different GPU, using various RAM modules, and noting the system specs (Ryzen 7 5800X, RTX 3060 Ti, 32GB RAM, ASUS TUF Gaming B550M Plus, Master 620W PSU). Any advice would be appreciated.

You're giving it time to settle when it starts blinking. AM5 tends to need a LONG time to load data from memory. Sometimes it works about 30 minutes, but that's not ideal. How many RAM modules are you attempting to use? Do you reset the CMOS each time you switch? AM5 generally dislikes having four modules and certain setups based on time, location, or even planetary status. (It's quite particular!) What is your system's power consumption? What power supply are you using? Is the BIOS current? Have you tried reconnecting the CPU power? The main issue seems to be extra flashing when inserting the second DIMM. This suggests a mounting or alignment problem. Consider these steps: take the CPU out, reposition it, briefly detach the cooler, and test again. AM5 often struggles with memory channel problems if it's not in the optimal configuration, has too many modules, or if you didn't properly prepare it. Double-check that you're only placing RAM in the designated slots—B1 for one stick, B1+B2 for two.

That's what I initially considered, then I thought about switching to another motherboard and checking if it functions properly.

I removed the CMOS each time I changed the RAM and used them in different slots. I also tried resetting the CPU with the AIO still attached, but the problem persisted (ahaha, you're right about being picky). After that, he just used his PC normally and shut down without any errors. He hasn't done any updates or BIOS changes, and he doesn’t even know how to do them. Now he’s stuck with the DRAM light.

That's a B550 model with a 5800x resolution, still an AM4 chipset.
