Hey there, I noticed something interesting when you took the PCI grates off your MSI B450 gaming plus max. The metal broke and came out as a small silver rectangle with a black stripe from the motherboard. I think it was likely an audio-related component and wasn’t protected by plastic. If you need help identifying what it was or what to do next, just let me know!

I believe you're referring to an SMD resistor. It's hard to judge its necessity, but it was there for a purpose. If it weren't there, the motherboard wouldn't function properly. Often circuits include backup features to prevent total failure.
