Hey everyone, if you look at my profile you’ll notice I’m facing a lot of issues with the system I created. Despite having my RAM replaced once and my motherboard swapped twice, the same problems keep happening and I’m really frustrated. It’s driving me to consider selling my computer. To sum up, the desktop has been acting oddly—sometimes it freezes when trying to boot from a shutdown. It would get stuck on the yellow DRAM indicator on the motherboard, and after turning it on and off at the power supply, it usually resolves the issue and starts up. But now that I’ve installed a new motherboard from ASUS, it seems the problem isn’t there anymore. Now it only boots with one stick of RAM, and when I add two, it either stays on the DRAM light or the red CPU light. I’m not sure what’s causing this. The RGB lights sometimes flicker too, but that’s another issue altogether. I’ve tried lowering the memory frequency to 3200MHz instead of the advertised 3600, but it didn’t help. Could it be the CPU? It seems to work fine with just one stick of RAM, so that’s unlikely. If anyone has any ideas, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

A faulty CPU can lead to various issues that are often unpredictable. It might also indicate a problematic power supply. Inconsistent power supply usually contributes to overall instability, even if the system seems functional at times. My advice would be to test with a different power source first, then consider using an AM4 CPU or purchasing the most affordable APU available. I estimate an Athlon 300GE costs around 50 USD. Edit: Also check your motherboard's RAM speed limits, since you can't always exceed the specifications set by the board. For instance, a B350 motherboard with a Ryzen 3600 can support RAM up to 3000MHz stably, even if the motherboard and CPU are rated for 3200MHz.

It's odd that two others recently shared similar issues. Leed usually participates in discussions, and Solar Samurai focuses on troubleshooting. You might find their posts helpful.

If you suspect a power supply problem, check for irregularities in voltage readings over time. Look at the patterns of different categories—stable values suggest normal operation, while sudden spikes or drops may indicate an issue. Since you can't replace the PSU yet, use tools like CPUID HWMonitor to gather detailed data and identify any anomalies.
