I just played Stray with my three and five-year-olds and they really enjoyed it. It was their first story-based game, and by the end they were both emotional when it finished. I'm trying to find another game like this but haven't found anything suitable. Any ideas would be great! Thanks!

Goat Simulator warning: I’ve only dabbled with Stray so far, but if you want lighthearted entertainment as a quirky creature, this game is perfect.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 offered an enjoyable experience with an engaging narrative; however, its combat features resemble Minecraft, which may raise questions about its suitability for children.

Abzu, if your kids have the attention span for a story with no words, is a good pick.

1) Ori and the Blind Forest – if you like it, grab the follow-up too.
2) Journey
3) Child of Light

If they can cope with little bit of suspense/thrill, you can try puzzle-ish game like Inside and My Little Nightmare. Also there is Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, it's a unique puzzle-ish game where you control 2 character with 1 controller. The ending will make them cry for sure.

It wasn't until later that I discovered "Stray," but a ghostly tail is a third-person platformer featuring a mouse and some entertaining characters. It was a solid experience even as an adult, without any voice acting—perfect for parents to read the voices themselves and invent them for the characters. Plenty of guidance available to shape the story.

Subnautica is a survival game set in an open world, created by Unknown Worlds Entertainment. After their ship, the Aurora, lands on the mysterious planet 4546B, players can freely roam the oceanic environment.
