Issue: New PC experiences freezing while launching games like Fortnite and occasionally during work sessions (starting the game is a reliable trigger). Sometimes it restarts in-game briefly, other times it freezes on the lobby. When freezing occurs, audio cuts out, the screen remains frozen on the last image, no controls are possible (keyboard/mouse), but the PC won’t shut down unless I manually power it off with the button. Generally stable for an hour while browsing the internet. I’ve updated all drivers and firmware to the newest versions for every component. Attempted reinstalling and resetting both locally and via cloud; CMOS cleared. Ran stress tests on CPU, GPU, RAM, no problems. Monitored temperatures and usage during freezes—both CPU and GPU stayed around 50°C. Tested using one stick of RAM, two sticks, XMP enabled/disabled, swapped SSD to another M.2 slot. Upgraded to Windows 11 (drivers were current). No overclocking done; performance remains at stock levels except for toggling XMP. Consistent finding: when launching Fortnite, the power supply starts making a buzzing sound—not coil whine, it sounds like an electrical hum (audio files attached). I’m located in Japan and the PSU is grounded via the ground wire. This only happens during Fortnite launches, not during productivity tasks. I have a comparison file showing when the PSU isn’t buzzing. The buzzing ceases during freezes. Current OS: Windows 11 Pro (64-bit). CPU: i7-12700 Mobo: Asrock H670M-itx (latest BIOS v7.02) GPU: Palit Gamerock 3080 10GB (3×8-pin, two cables from PSU, both connectors 8-pin to 6+2, one cable uses all 6+2, another uses one) RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 3600MHz CL16 2×16GB PSU: FSP Dagger Pro SFX 850W SSD: Samsung 980 Pro 1TB M.2 Cooler: Lian-Li Galahad 240mm AIO Case: Lian-Li Q58 This is my first build alone, and I’m completely puzzled. I’ve searched online for a fix but nothing has helped. Please, any advice would be extremely valuable! Buzzing, halts after freeze. Audio file: m4a No sound. Verify the installed Intel management software. Ensure compatibility settings are correct to avoid freezing issues. Adjust XMP manually if needed. Retrieve Aida64 files via motherboard menu, note timings and voltage. Insert BIOS manually, keeping other options at defaults. Consider checking for Asrock optimization or similar settings and reverting to default. Reinstall Windows without Asrock utilities may help. You could also try Windows 10 as an alternative.
I've kept everything as it was in the BIOS except for XMP Auto or Profile 1, both causing freezes. The PSU I'm using is an 850W model, which should suffice for my components without overclocking. Sadly, I don't have a backup, and this is my first build since moving to Japan.
You can verify the version using the CSME tool: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...t.html?v=t. Run it in the GUI folder. It seems like GPU coil whine, but listen closely. Based on your specs, the PSU should be okay. I’d consider reinstalling Windows while offline and even switching to Windows 10. Share the event log from when it froze last time.
