Hello. I’m from Germany, and English isn’t my first language, so please forgive me. My issue seems to be “fixed for now,” but I’d still appreciate some opinions and advice. I set up a new PC about two weeks ago. It’s a 64-bit i7-13700k with an ASUS dual RTX 4070 Corsair Vengeance, DDR4 3200MHz RAM, MSI Z690 AORUS Pro Wi-Fi, a compact M.2 NVMe SSD from Samsung 980 Pro (2TB), Crucia MX500 1TB, and a compact fractal design meshify c case. The PC runs Windows 11 Home 64-bit. CPU is a pro, and the GPU is decent. I’ve got a Toshiba 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD and a CRUCIA MX500 1TB. Everything looks fine in terms of size and layout, though it’s tight. The fans are controlled via fancontrol software. Temperatures are normal: CPU stays around 36-37°C, GPU drops to about 30°C at idle, and in 1440p it reaches roughly 64°C with an average of 200fps. The Cinebench scores were decent—around 60-70 with minor spikes. I don’t remember the system getting too hot on the bench.

About the fuse: my room’s power supply died while the PC was running. Was that the right word? After that, I experienced constant screen tearing and black screens in games like Conan Exiles, New World, Diablo 4, Brotato, and Death & Dragons. I restarted and ran a test at 720p, 1080p, and 1440p—still had the same issues. I thought maybe the GPU was damaged, even though that seemed unlikely. Then I tried connecting the HDMI cable directly to the motherboard instead of the graphics card. The problem disappeared. So it looked like the GPU was the culprit.

Later, I connected the HDMI back to the GPU and unplugged the DP cable. No more tearing or crashes. It seems the issue might have been resolved by switching the HDMI connection. Still, I’m worried about what caused it and whether I should consider returning the graphics card or other components. I’m still within the return window and have a warranty on most parts. I recorded a short test video showing the tearing and black screens—I’ve trimmed it to under 20MB for clarity.

Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Steve

I can't tell you the precise condition of your machine or confirm its repair status. A good idea would be to run a stress test on it to uncover hidden problems. Still, I suggest investing in a UPS for your PC to help prevent similar issues moving forward.

Thanks for the advice. I placed an UPS to ensure my system shuts down safely in a few minutes. The Aida64 extreme stress test is performing well so far. I'll monitor it over the coming days. If anyone else has suggestions, feel free to share. Edit: No new issues reported. Aida64 Extreme stress test shows no problems or errors—memtest86 reported 0 errors, furmark achieved 1440p stresstest in about 20 minutes (average 197fps, 65 C). Updated June 25, 2023 by Steve86

It seems like you're suggesting it might have been fine, but you want to confirm. Please let us know if anything differs.

I completely missed this. The issues resurfaced a few days later and there was no clear explanation. I had to return the card.
