Compatibility RAM 1x8 and 2x8 work together.
Compatibility RAM 1x8 and 2x8 work together.
My friend is having issues with RAM compatibility involving 1Rx8 and 2Rx8 speeds. I've been looking into it, but the details are a bit confusing. Please help me understand better. (Sorry, my language isn't perfect.) Processor specs: Intel Celeron 1000MHz, 1.8 GHz. Photos for more info.
The manual provides limited useful details. Slot A is designated for the primary memory chip. Use slot B for additional storage. For single modules, select slot A; if only one is installed, go with slot A. No information about memory models or compatible types is given. If the R2 capacity is bigger, apply it in the first slot. Note: This section seems unclear regarding R2 specifications. Another tip I discovered could be helpful. None of the listed memories are R2; all are R1. https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgra...c840-i4011 Motherboard guide: http://web1.toshiba.ca/support/isg/manua...Manual.pdf Sorry for the delayed response—I almost missed this.
@ShrimpBrime Thanks for your assistance. To be honest, my friend's laptop was around 5 to 6 years old and a budget model, which might have been upgraded to an older motherboard. There’s limited data available about it. (EDIT: I confirmed he’s tried swapping the SODIMMs, but still no success—can’t confirm.) In any case, I believe there’s a possibility to upgrade RAM by adding a dual-channel setup. The best option would be to purchase more RAM with higher capacity and use a single-channel model instead. Hopefully, someone can offer useful advice for this situation.
