Compatibility problems with Ryzen 7 3700X and Corsair RAM?
I've recently changed my setup from an Intel i7-4790 with older components to an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X. This required a new motherboard and DDR4 RAM. After the switch, I performed a fresh Windows installation. Over time, I've noticed framerates in games dropping significantly—often cutting in half after about 30 minutes of play, sometimes extending up to three hours. Currently, I suspect my RAM could be the culprit. I'm using Corsair Vengeance RGB 2x16GB sticks and testing them in Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Grand Theft Auto V. During troubleshooting, I've tried running games with and without DOCP active (which is AMD's XMP setting) and changed the RAM slots, but results remain unchanged. Removing one stick and using a single 16GB module at stock speed has improved stability and eliminated noticeable glitches. This setup is my only way to play without strange errors. I'm wondering if my motherboard might not be compatible with my RAM—whether it's the 32GB limit, a hardware issue, or something else I haven't thought of. I ran MemTest86 on both modules for three hours with no errors detected. Here are the details:
* Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B450-F Gaming
* RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 32GB (2x16GB) - CMW32GX4M2C3200C16
* CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
* GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX1080 Ti 11GB Xtreme Edition
* Power Supply: Corsair RM650
Just a quick note—my graphics drivers are up to date, the BIOS is current, and Windows has no further updates available. Even with only two working sticks at stock speed (2333MHz), I'm unsure how to get my RAM to perform optimally.
Hi there! Could you let me know where you placed your RAM modules? Additionally, were any motherboard utility programs installed?
I wonder if the RAM won’t work well with your motherboard since it hasn’t been confirmed as compatible.
