They undergo testing from the factory, and I believe only a tiny fraction might encounter problems. Based on my observations, I've used the same setup before as an upgrade without any complications. At the start of this discussion, I just upgraded to Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3000Mhz with 8GBx2, purchasing the first unit in March and the second just a week ago. I was using a 400Mhz OC and installed the new part, which immediately started Windows with the existing configuration—no issues so far.

Here is a prime example what not to do when you add memory. It was just posted dude has 2 different kits at 2 different speeds with most likey 2 different sets of timings made it sound like OMG it wasn't just plug and play HELPP!!!! LOL!
