Compatibility motherboard for Asus ROG STRIX B550-F gaming build
Hello, thank you for reaching out. I’d be happy to offer my thoughts and suggestions regarding your upcoming upgrade. You’re considering swapping your I7-9700k for an R7 5800X3D to address CPU bottlenecks while playing Microsoft Flight Simulator with an RTX3080Ti graphics card.
For your motherboard, the Asus ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming is a solid choice. I’d want to confirm whether your current RAM and NVMe SSDs are compatible with this board, as the Asus site doesn’t list them in the QVL compatibility section. Your RAM is Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 at 3600MHz CL18, and your SSDs are Samsung 970 EVO Plus M2 and Samsung 970 EVOplus M2 PCI 3.0. None of these models appear in the compatibility list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t work.
I understand you’ve invested heavily in the RTX3080Ti, so it’s wise to verify compatibility before purchasing. Regarding power, 750W should be sufficient for the R7 5800X3D and RTX3080Ti setup, assuming proper cooling.
Please let me know if you’d like more details or further guidance!
The top recommendation is to review their QVL, which is available on the Strix b550 F page at the Asus website.
Hello, your RAM and SSDs aren't listed in the motherboard's QVL. Are there any compatibility concerns? You might want to avoid spending more on parts just in case.
I'm working with some Adatas not listed in the QVL. They won't overclock, need XMP support, and after flipping the PSU switch, I have to reset everything manually. My other B-Die sets function normally. I created a profile so I can reload settings after powering off. I prefer sticking to the QVL. Running two B-Die sets at once lets me use XMP across four sticks. I have a pair of Royals and a pair of Black and Whites, both at 3200C14, all on the QVL. When I first built my system before buying parts, I checked the QVL with Asus and G.Skill. This has been about 20 years in the hobby—just reliable performance.
You're welcome on the compatibility details. Regarding your power supply, it should work with your 5800X3X and RTX3080Ti.
