You might want to check who supplied the USB set—likely Intel—and verify if they offer drivers for other operating systems besides Windows 10. Many prefer sticking to a single OS for driver compatibility. I own an older Acer TravelMate, which isn’t officially compatible with Windows 10. I was able to upgrade from version 7 to 10 without issues, but the anniversary update caused problems, and getting drivers proved difficult.
Windows 7 lacks native USB3 or 3.1 functionality. You must add USB drivers during installation or keep INF files ready. Today’s laptops rarely have USB2 ports left. Just use Windows 10 and it’ll work fine. For Windows 7, you’d need a more robust business machine.
