I'm building a relaxed gaming PC just for browsing the web. I repurposed parts like an old ASUS Z-170A, but when I tried to run a spare Intel i5 6600K from my build, it had a bent corner and wouldn’t boot, turning the MemOK red light on. I ended up buying a Pentium CPU instead. It starts up normally with no error lights, though the screen doesn’t display any menu. I’ve heard that using a GPU in the past might cause issues.

Did you check if your BIOS is up to date? It should be version 3007 or newer for that board. https://www.asus.com/supportonly/z170a/helpdesk_cpu/

Thank you for your response. I'm unsure which version you're referring to. Updating without being able to view the screen is possible, but I recommend trying it if you can access the interface. Let me know if you need further guidance.

Ensure your board has an active CPU. The most reliable option is to obtain a 6th generation CPU from someone else or have it installed at a nearby store for an upgrade.
