Just reviewed your previous message, believe this is the issue. The solution is no additional power needed. The power supply includes the cables, so it's likely a 1x6 pin somewhere. I'll check it out. Thanks, Mrob27R

Ensure the external power is linked to the correct GPU, as it needs this connection to function. It seems your PSU might also require replacement.

If the issue was simply not connecting the PCIe cable, and you still have the R9 270, prioritize using it over the HD 7770 since the R9 270 offers at least double the performance. However, be aware that the card may not perform as well in recent games from the past five years.

Most of today's content uses codecs that your GPU doesn't understand, causing it to fall back to CPU decoding

I also overlooked the non-gaming PC aspect, but I still think the R9 270 lacks the necessary hardware decoding for the latest web codecs used by platforms such as YouTube. It might need a browser extension like h264ify to work properly. Therefore, if that was the reason for upgrading the GPU, it would be better to opt for at least a GeForce 10 series model, such as GT 1030 or GTX 1050.

I installed the HD 7770 and connected the extra power supply. After turning it on, the fans began spinning up the GPU, but the system didn’t boot. The CPU red light appeared on the motherboard. This was unusual—I hadn’t experienced this before. Previously, with the original power, the PCIe light would illuminate, allowing the PC to boot. I restarted several times, but it seemed to work again. I’m considering replacing the PSU and will see if that resolves the issue. No other solutions come to mind.

It seems like the graphics card is not functioning properly and the power supply is insufficient. If the graphics card had any activity, I would have seen a message displayed on the monitor. The earlier suggested model should be suitable, even with your current power supply.

Thanks to everyone, I believe you've addressed my main question. PCie 3.0 should function with my motherboard. Investigating the reasons for the issue. Beginning with a fresh PSU, if that doesn't resolve the problem, I might need to try again. Thanks again Mrob27R

I encountered issues fitting my 1080ti into the old x79 Asrock board since the system would freeze unless I manually configured the PCIe gen for the PCIe 2.0 x16 port to 2.0. Luckily, I had a PCIe 2.0 compatible ATI 6970 available, allowing me to adjust the BIOS accordingly.
