Hi, I'm planning to replace my rams because of random reboots. My biggest problem is that MSI Site offers very few rams for my config. MSI B450 Tomahawk Max is my mobo and AMD Ryzen 5 5600 is the CPU. The site shows only 25 rams if I select the category rx-5xxx https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-TOM...upport#mem . Most of these rams are not common rams (not available in my local markets inside europe). If I select the category rx-3x00 then there is lot of options, but I'm not sure about compatibility. Has anyone same issue or suggestion about it? Thanks!

The QVL was just what they had time to try and verified successfully, though you're mostly able to purchase any RAM package and it should function (provided it matches suitable frequencies/timings). Regarding the title question, in theory the maximum memory capacity could reach 128GB (four 32GB units).

I'm changing RAM since my existing one isn't working well or works differently. To prevent issues, I want to switch now if compatibility isn't met.

The memory controller is identical on both the Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen 5000, meaning functionality should transfer between them. However, personal judgment shouldn't be overly focused on this detail. Most manufacturers tend to highlight compatibility more than actual performance, often testing only a limited selection of products. Generally, you can use any standard DDR4 kit without issues, provided you don’t aim for top speeds. The emphasis seems to be more on RAM type compatibility rather than detailed specifications.

The QVL list isn't helpful. It was refreshed about eight months back. My system uses a Ryzen 5 5600 with a B450 Tomahawk Max, paired with a 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM at 3200mhz. It works fine without needing the list.

I have a 2x8GB Corsair Vegeance RAM in red, and my PC is restarting randomly. I’m considering switching to another brand just in case. Thanks for the info!

This problem likely stems from the CPU's memory or controller not being compatible with your system's capabilities. Corsair Vengeance memory is known for its reliability and often receives excellent reviews among users.

I verify, I own four 32GB modules at 3200MHz each. It’s definitely not listed for QVL—I’m pretty sure no AM4 board supports 128GB configurations.

I tested it on an R5 3600 and R5 5600, still facing the same problem. I returned recently from the tech store with a Kingston FURY 16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 KF432C16BBK2/16 kit to check. The system is already up and running. I’ll keep you updated. Appreciate the details!
