Hello, your Dell G5 Desktop comes with a specific 16GB DDR4 RAM chip (SK Hynix HMAA2GU6AJR8N-XN). You're considering adding another 16GB, but the part numbers differ. Even though the brands are similar, will these fit together? I've attached links to both RAM options you're considering.

You're merging 16Gb AJR and 16Gb CJR revisions, as these are essentially different versions. Focusing on JEDEC speeds should work well, though you might encounter more opportunities from people selling used OEM rams online. On platforms like Facebook Marketplace, you'll likely find many sellers offering a variety of used OEM rams in your country.

Thank you for your message. I attempted to locate the same component # but it wasn't available at a fair price... On eBay, someone is offering the CJR part that matches my current AJR RAM if it works with my setup.

in that case just buy the cjr and be done with it since this is jedec ram and i assume you wont be doing any tuning? even if you do youll probably be limited by your current ajr stick cause iirc at some point i stumbled across some chinese review site that overclocked some green pcb 16gbit cjr to 4800 but cant find it anymore and afaik ajr tops out around the 4000 mark

I'm not aiming to adjust or boost performance. I just want to keep things as they are.
