Hello there,
I’m considering replacing my keyboard with a Razer Blackwidow Elite or Razer Huntsman Elite featuring green or purple optical switches for typing. I understand newer Blackwidow models exist, but V3 only has one media button and the V3 Pro is quite pricey. I’m looking for relatively affordable options, as green switches tend to be heavier (50g vs 45g) and have a longer travel distance compared to purple ones (45g). Regarding tactile feedback, both switch types offer different experiences—green switches feel a bit sharper, while the exact feel depends on personal preference. For extended typing, I’d prefer the one with better durability and comfort. USB passthrough and keycap design aren’t crucial as long as the switches suit my needs. I’m aware these models tend to be noisy, which matches what I’m seeking.

I also want to know if the buttons are brighter on the Huntsman Elite compared to the Blackwidow Elite. I apologize for the lengthy message and hope you can share your thoughts or even test these keyboards if possible. Best wishes!

You might want to steer clear of anything tied to Razer's branding. They often fall short dramatically, and in hindsight you're paying for the logo when alternatives exist at lower costs. What exactly are you seeking in a keyboard purchase? I've put a lot of thought into designing my own keyboard and have been collecting parts and switches for that project. I recently acquired the Tangerine switches and am eager to find the perfect platform to integrate them.

Do you truly require a full-sized keyboard? I’ve already switched to a compact model (Corsair K65 Compact) and wish I had done so earlier... now I’m considering a 60% layout. I also picked up Ducky’s Radiant series keyboards. As someone who prefers linear and tactile switches, I don’t like those that click.

I’m building a Razer setup and prefer their chroma options, but here’s what I’m seeking:
Full-size keys;
Responsive switches;
Dedicated media keys;
US layout with small enter;
RGB to avoid the new retro style (Leopold and others with colored caps without RGB);
No preference for white keyboards;
Perhaps more interest in exposed switch aesthetics.
The options I found are Blackwidow Elite from €80 to €130 and Huntsman Elite for €130, which is still a bit above budget.
