I’d pick the fiber connection since it offers consistent speeds without relying on shared networks. The limited bandwidth from the cable would likely cause lag or slow performance, especially for streaming or online tasks. Dedicated fiber ensures smoother, more reliable internet.

They likely meant DSL when they referred to fiber in this context. Someone considered it acceptable to label the connection as fiber to the node even though a DSL line is present. I’d choose cable instead, as it would be faster and more reliable for typical needs. It’s best to get fiber installed once it’s available to your home.

It seemed odd they referred to it as fiber while offering only DSL speeds.

Additionally, even most home fiber connections are shared, meaning bandwidth isn't entirely exclusive. My setup uses FiOS with the fiber ending in a closet near the ONT, so it reaches my entire house. Bandwidth can change throughout the day, but overall it's much more dependable than traditional cable. Still, the speeds you get might not fully represent true fiber performance.

I believe it's DSL. I've seen AT&T reps often exaggerate, saying their DSL and VDSL services are actually fiber. When comparing DSL, cable, and fiber, I'd pick cable as the best option. Fiber is ideal, but it's rare in rural areas.
