For this setup you can choose the B650M-HDV/M.2 or B650M Pro RS boards. They’re among the simplest available yet capable of handling your needs. If you prefer spending a bit more, consider alternatives like the X670E PG Lightning, B650 Tomahawk, and B650E Taichi Lite. Each offers different benefits based on your requirements—PG Lightning is the most affordable Gen 5 board, the Tomahawk provides six SATA ports at a lower cost, and the Taichi supports debugging and overclocking for the 7800X3D, though its overclocking features are limited. I’d pick whichever suits you best. Regarding software, I’m not the most knowledgeable on this topic, so I’m unsure about the best experience. Most vendors’ BIOSes have a gentle learning curve; X3D is straightforward, and RGB tools work similarly well regardless of OS. Using OpenRGB instead of the built-in Windows version can simplify things. The memory kits from G.Skill are adequate, though other brands offer better heat management designs. This particular kit might be slightly faster at a lower price point.

Consider PCI 5 when planning a GPU upgrade, but check your motherboard compatibility first. If you're unsure, focus on upgrading the MOTO at this time.

I’m not sure if PCIe Gen 5 will really matter when AM5 is in use, so I shouldn’t stress about it now. By the time it becomes important, you’ll likely need to upgrade your CPU already. The 4090s are still pretty compatible with Gen 3, meaning a big jump in GPUs won’t be necessary just yet.

It's a solid choice, but the B650E Taichi Lite offers more features at a lower price of $75 less.
