If your internet is poor, your friend suggests using a proxy while gaming. I prefer VPNs for that situation. If you have a bad connection, NordVPN is a good option. Which one works better depends on what you mean by "better."

Because no encryption is needed, proxies tend to perform more quickly with less delay. They also offer reduced latency, making them ideal for gaming.

For gaming, these tools aren't helpful. They increase lag that would already exist. What do you think you're attempting with a proxy or VPN while playing?

A few individuals alter their path to reach the game servers. This tends to be problematic most of the time. Ideally, it should have been considered from the start. If forced to choose, WTFast could be a viable option, though I wouldn't suggest anything else.

It's improbable games rely on Proxy for anything beyond downloads, since Proxies usually handle HTTP/HTTPS and games use their own protocols over UDP. A VPN is possible but generally not advisable. You'll likely face issues hosting a game through a VPN because it requires specific ports to be open, which most VPN services don't support. Unless the VPN offers uPNP functionality, it won't work.

It's a fast circular toss with too many factors involved. Using a VPN helps manage multiple protocols better, though not encrypting data saves some CPU power. On the downside, the proxy route might perform worse. If your internet connection is poor, pairing it with a VPN or proxy for gaming is likely to worsen performance by around 95%.

Current speeds vary depending on your location and connection. You’re likely in a specific area, and using a VPN can help improve access or protect your privacy while playing online.
