I noticed there are various versions of Minecraft for PC. I’m looking to get one for my son who’s 9, but I don’t want a lower quality version. It will be played on the PC in my signature. I’ve seen the impact of shader mods and he’s only played on the console, so I’d like to impress him with a better visual experience. I’m not familiar with all the differences between the versions and would really appreciate any advice from players. Thanks ahead of time.

It seems like you're considering a choice between Windows 10 and Java versions. Could you clarify which specific aspects you're comparing?

The Java version offers more flexibility for modification. This is likely your optimal choice.

Is there controller support in the java version? You have an Xbox One wireless controller with the Bluetooth adapter you use for your controller games.

I don't think so, do you? Besides, playing Minecraft with a controller is much worse than using a mouse and keyboard.

After evaluating the choices, Java editing offers more tools, improved updates, and the chance to test new features ahead of others. The drawback is limited multiplayer options. Windows 10, also called Bedrock, allows seamless play with others across platforms, making it easy for a phone player to join a computer game on Xbox. However, Windows 10 sacrifices early access and mod capabilities.
