aim for the highest possible frames per second during gaming at 720 or 1080p with 240Hz. Decide which option offers the best performance after overclocking or tuning. Compare G.Skill 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL14 Trident Z Neo with 14-14-14-34 latency against G.Skill 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3600MHz CL16 Trident Z Neo 16-16-16-36 latency. Both are PC specs with 2080 Ti Aorus Extreme WaterForce GPU and Aorus Z390 MOBO i9 9900K CPU.

This looks like a playful comment based on the username. You actually don’t need 64 GB of RAM for gaming—32 GB is more than enough. A lower frame rate would be better technically, but it won’t really matter on an Intel platform.

I faced a similar choice when picking between those two kits for my AMD rig. I did some testing on performance and a bit of tweaking, and it seems CL14 is the better option. The gap is minimal, but you could easily reach 3200 to 3600 without any issues.

It doesn't work to adjust the 3600mhz 16cl into a 3200mhz 14cl. I've seen some setups with 3600mhz 15cl but not sure how they achieved that.

I prefer the 3200MHz model with gentle timing settings. Regarding RAM overclocking, I'm not an expert, but from what I know, higher capacity per bit makes it tougher to push them further. This also relies on the memory kind and likely the motherboard. Running four at once will probably complicate things even more. Edited January 3, 2020 by Cyberspirit

I'm not a specialist in RAM repairs, but adjusting the CL seems more challenging than setting a clock.
