Hey everyone,
I'm weighing two GPU choices and would appreciate your thoughts:
I currently have an RTX 2080 Ti for $200 (in good condition, no warranty).
The new RX 9060 XT 8GB will be available in 2 days for about $300.
My setup will include a Ryzen 5 9600X, and I’ll be playing at 1080p. Mostly CS2, PUBG, and Warzone, so consistent high FPS is key—not ray tracing or 4K. No heavy work here, just gaming.
Considering the price difference and performance, with one card older but stronger in theory (2080 Ti) versus a newer model with warranty (RX 9060 XT), which option suits my needs best in 2025?
Thanks in advance!
which do you think is the better choice for your needs in 2025? i believe a brand new model would be ideal. you receive the warranty, and the RTX2080Ti is already three generations old now. additionally, nvidia is discontinuing older generations due to driver updates.
Hey there,
I'm thinking of the 9060XT. The 2080Ti was solid, but the 3060Ti (a bit quicker) is a better fit. Opt for the latest tech with improvements such as FSR 4/FG.
Here’s another option you might consider. It offers strong performance at a reasonable cost and should meet your needs for competitive gaming. Let me know if you’d like more details!
I might choose the 9060xt 16gb based on the reviews. I think Warzone tends to use a lot of VRAM.
I would choose the 9060xt over the 2. The 2080ti isn't bad if you already own one, but I wouldn't personally pick that now when a new card is available. The 9060xt beats the 2080ti in most benchmarks at 1080p (using a 3070 as a reference where the 2080ti isn't directly comparable), so it's clear and logical for me. Improved performance, updated technology, better warranty, and more VRAM.
Sorry, I really need to improve my reading skills! My advice against the 16gb 9060xt was clear. The 8gb at 1080p should work well for the games you mentioned (Warzone is actually quite reasonable with VRAM usage—less than 8gb at 1440p when most eye-candy is on).
I wonder how long you plan to stick with this card. If it’s a longer-term investment, neither option might be ideal. The 2080ti might not have much left in it, and the 8gb VRAM could become too limiting. Still, I think a newer card would be better here, even though it feels like a tough choice right now.
