I was checking the 10100 first because it’s affordable, brand new, and its performance seemed unusually strong for the price. I’m curious if there are any hidden features or overlooked aspects in this model. Considering alternatives, would the 10400 or 2600 offer better value for the additional cost? PC I haven’t got yet—my motherboard is based on the 10100. I’m thinking about i3-10100 2x8GB RAM, 1660 Ti or 2060, some B460 motherboard, a 550W PSU, a 1TB SSD, and a Thermaltake v200 case.
10400F stands out as the top choice currently, priced around $150. The Ryzen 5 2600 isn't a good value unless you're looking for extremely low costs, and overclocking won<|pad|> can't boost it past the 10400. The Ryzen 5 3600 isn't justified at $200, and the I3-10100 works well for budget builds and pairs nicely with your selected GPUs. I personally use the 10400 and it performs better than my Ryzen 5 1600 even after overclocking.
And that's the 10400/F choice. With the R5 3600 now back at its MSRP and even higher elsewhere, the Intel component offers a solid value. It works almost exactly like the 3600—same performance with a Z490 board and 3200MHz RAM, since only Z-series boards support XMP. This makes it a great option when the CPU is the main workload.
