Comparing Solo and Team CS strategies for competitive play.
Comparing Solo and Team CS strategies for competitive play.
Someone else believes a different mode should be added to CSGO for players who play together, especially those like me who grind hard as solo players. A friend who is SMFC shared that he’d help me out since I’m currently at MGE after the patch lowered my DMG ranking—which is common. He suggested joining a 1v1 peak/aim trainer map to improve my aim and positioning. I noticed he was too slow in those moments, often getting ahead of me. We talked in Steam chat about his high rank, and I found a Reddit thread discussing the DMG ranking issue. It seems many Solo Q players can surpass higher ranks by teaming up with skilled teammates. Maybe implementing a casual mode that rewards teamwork could benefit us all. What do you think?
I’m a member and had my Silver 5 account set up to assist my friend in winning. Since I haven’t played there for a while, its rank dropped. I won the game quickly while carrying it out and ended up with Silver 1. That’s actually really nice—I don’t need to be a bad player anymore to reach that level.
I’ll share my story with you, it’s a bit long. I have two accounts in CS:GO. On my main one, I reached silver four after my placement matches. I stopped playing competitive games because I’d often get angry at teammates who didn’t understand, especially since they were mostly Russians. So I switched to spray control maps and learned how to use the guns I used most. Then I moved to 1v1 arena servers where opponents had much higher ranks. At first I felt really bad, like a sweet baby on Christmas Eve, but I kept improving. Eventually I returned to competitive play and slowly climbed the ranks, recently reaching MGE. On my second account I got ranked quickly after my tenth match. To answer your question: yes, players can improve by playing with stronger opponents, even if it takes longer. They’ll progress more gradually, but eventually they’ll climb too. I’ve seen this firsthand on both accounts. I’d easily beat 30/10 players against lower-ranked teams and lose big against higher-ranked ones.
I totally understand your point. With such a large player base, it could actually be a good idea. However, it might be tougher for people trying to interact with others to find a game. That wouldn’t be great for the overall experience. I used to be at the top before the rank changes; I fell to LE when it happened. Now I’m back at LEM. But I ended up creating a smurf account because of it. I mainly use my main character during parties. If you do poorly in a game now, it’s almost certain you’ll lose your rank.
It would also help players understand their role more clearly, like a Global Elite in a team-based game but only LEM in a solo match—this indicates the individual is an excellent team member who follows team values.
The update lowered my rank from mg2 to silver elite master, which was my initial level, so I’m now focusing on playing cevo.
