Will increasing performance by overclocking 4 cores to 3.8 ghz while disabling the remaining 4 cores yield better temperatures compared to using all 8 cores at 3.8 ghz?

What would you receive if you did that? You'd lose half the performance.

I understand, but imagine we're in a game that needs no more than four cores. Then an i7 7700 would handle around 3.8 GHz or higher, and if I boost my R7 2700 to at least 3.8 GHz, the performance would match because faster clock speeds make the GPU work harder and can also lower temperatures compared to using eight cores at 3.8 GHz.

Are the temperatures rising now? Wouldn't it be more effective to install an aftermarket cooler and reach OC at 4GHz or above? I attempted to boost my 2700x to higher than usual 4.3GHz, enabled "Game mode" which provides 4 cores and 8 threads, but it didn't improve anything. Game mode is accessible via Ryzen Master.

Sure, I'll try to keep it similar while changing the wording. Let me know if you'd like any adjustments!

I have a good water cooler, so I didn't focus much on temperatures at that moment, but because I couldn't reach a higher OC, it's likely the temperatures didn't change much. What temperatures are you seeing at load?

At full capacity it reaches around 74 degrees on the stock cooler (fan speed configured for performance, not max).

In Ryzen Master, locate the game mode settings and adjust them accordingly.
