You're looking at build options for your next gaming rig. The Ryzen 7 2700X is available for $260, while the Ryzen 5 3600 Non-X is priced at $280. Your focus is on a 5700 or 5700 XT (still deciding) and possibly a 2060 Super, with your primary games including Rainbow Six Siege, Red Dead Redemption 2, Modern Warfare 2019, and Minecraft with shaders. You're aiming for ultra performance on a 1080p, 144Hz display.

Get a 3600 for gaming. You’ll likely spot one for around 250 on sale. Mike usually carries them.

The R5 3600 offers a clear advantage in speed, especially for gaming, and it delivers a high refresh rate 1080p experience. If you want maximum performance, it’s worth investing in the best CPU available.

3600 offers improved stability compared to 2700x, making it easier to maintain high frame rates like 5700x on a 144Hz display.

For gaming, especially at high refresh rates, the 3600 performs best. The 2700x shines in video editing and tasks needing more cores. However, when it comes to gaming, the 3600 is clearly superior.

Sure thing. Clarifying your thoughts: With a 3600 MHz clock speed, would it be beneficial to spend an additional $100 CDN for an XT version of the RX 5700?

From reviews and tests, it looks like the 5700XT is worth the extra cost compared to other models. Most benchmarks show its performance matches or exceeds the 2070 Super. Generally, you won’t pay much more—often only a few dollars more, sometimes even less than that.

They say you can update the 5700XT BIOS to version 5700, achieving the same speed as the 5700 XT.
