Hey! To sum it up: your i5-6500 should give you a solid boost, likely around 20-30% more performance. For your current mATX H110, switching to a model that supports overclocking will add even more value. Let me know if you need tips on finding the best OC options!

In terms of performance, you can anticipate a noticeable jump in clock speed between the two models. The 7600k should run at around 3.8GHz while the 6500 operates at 3.2GHz, which typically translates to roughly a 20% boost in raw CPU speed. While GHz is often used, it's more practical to focus on actual single-thread performance and core design similarities. For overclocking, the 7600k is ideal since you can realistically push it to 5GHz with a good air cooler. I recommend sourcing a Z170/270 motherboard for a reasonable price—keep it under $50. Avoid overspending on the board, as upgrading the CPU to something like the I3 12100F and H610 would yield better results without the hassle.

I really don't think it's worth it to spend that money right now. At this point, a 10100 can usually be found for 70-80 dollars, and a board for the same price would be much better than this 7600k. The 12100 is a bit more expensive but still a big jump, making this purchase even less appealing.

In 2022, aim for more processing power. Suggest your friend upgrade to a higher-end model or consider selling their current setup if it's outdated.
