CP 2077 feels incredibly lacking in polish when side-by-side with titles like GTA 5. It’s shocking how much detail is missing. Next time a CDPR bot tries to boast about Rockstar, show them these clips—they pale in comparison.
Their shares dropped significantly, resulting in a modest gain overall.
GTA V is essentially GTA. It offers an open world experience, solid driving mechanics, average combat, and a few missions. Cyberpunk 2077 is an RPG with decent combat, average driving, and a handful of missions. If you're into driving, try GTA or DiRT Rally. For shooting games, CoD, Battlefield, ARMA, Borderlands work well. For a strong RPG, Cyberpunk is decent. I agree with that opinion. The driving in Cyberpunk 77 is quite poor, though it doesn't fully meet expectations. Still, it's better than the driving in KSP.
At first glance, yes. Markets can bounce back, though rarely easily. Before 2005, you could purchase Apple shares for less than a dollar each. Today, acquiring the same would set you back well over a hundred dollars. Has CP2077 been a massive disaster? Definitely. Is it a worthwhile experience? At best, just average. Will it ruin CDPR? Unlikely. Will it be corrected? Likely, though—this will require significant time and effort. Has it damaged trust in CDPR? Certainly. Is this entirely the fault of the company? Not at all. Even if the game launched flawlessly, it would be extremely hard to match the excitement generated by marketing and early hype.
I believe this game should be included in every game design course on avoiding mistakes, especially for open world RPGs. These comparison videos should be part of the syllabus to help future developers learn what goes wrong. Preparing them properly is essential.
I think there might be something missing here. It seems like the expectations weren’t quite met. Cyberpunk isn’t a flawless experience, yet it’s different from the Witcher series. Comparing it to GTA 5 makes sense, but remember GTA 5 evolved over time through many changes. This feels like CDPR’s first foray into this style, shifting from simple concepts to more complex mechanics. The design process must have been extremely challenging. Still, creating something functional is impressive, and it provides a strong base for future projects that build on these new tools.
Side note: Despite their current performance, CDPR is likely to succeed. This was a significant risk for the company, but the outcome shows they’re now more versatile and capable than before.
