Comparing DDR4-3000 CL15 and DDR4-3200 CL16 for a Ryzen 5 3600 setup
Hey everyone, I’m just starting out with Ryzen builds and still figuring things out. I picked the Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB, DDR4-3000, CL15-17-17-35 (CMW16GX4M2C3000C15 ver3.31). It’s a Micron Rev.B model. I’m wondering if this RAM can really handle overclocking beyond 3000MHz and what the chances are.
I bought it during a sale for $80, and I’m thinking about keeping it even though it’s not new. I can return it for a full refund if needed. I’m curious—will it perform well enough for gaming or other tasks? Could it match the speeds of the Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz CL16, which was tested by gamersnexus and showed decent results? Or should I go back and spend more on a DDR4-3200 CL16 instead?
I also want to know if a DDR4-3000 CL15 is really the same as a DDR4-3200 CL16. Do they offer similar performance, or does the higher clock speed give a noticeable boost? I’m aware that some components can be slow even with low latency, but I’m not sure what the exact limits are. Thanks for any advice!
