Comparing DDR4 2133MHz and DDR4 3200MHz – should you upgrade?
Comparing DDR4 2133MHz and DDR4 3200MHz – should you upgrade?
Right now my system has four 4GB RAM modules, split into two groups that operate at different frequencies—2400MHz and 2666MHz. When I tried using both at 2400MHz, it caused a blue screen and didn’t perform well. I switched to the default 2133MHz, which seems to work better. Would it be worthwhile to sell the existing modules and purchase a new set with higher speeds like 3200MHz? The total capacity would likely remain the same (16GB). It’s unclear if this would actually improve performance or just waste money. My current specs are an i7-9700K, 1060 graphics, 6GB RAM, possibly upgrading to a 6700X later. Most tasks run smoothly on the HD drive, except for Windows which uses the M.2 SSD. I mainly use the PC for gaming, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
We often get caught up in balancing perf and cost. Keep things straightforward. If you still want to proceed, go ahead. If you're content with your existing results, skip it. Any changes will be small. For significant improvements, consider a more drastic overhaul.
