This has no connection to the visual design of the operating system. Even if it did, why would we need a slow OS for faster startup? Let's focus on improving rather than simplifying.

Windows 8/10 performing better than Windows 7 is undeniable. Personal preference on appearance matters. If you dislike the look, revert to Windows 7 or hope for improvements. Why was Luna excluded from Vista/7?

It would be great if the first listing included Aero as an option. I don’t mind the metro style, but I personally favor Aero.

Metro was meant to be enhanced with frosted-glass borders, also known as Aero Glass. Most of these features were implemented in Windows 10.
