I am looking at getting a new PC soon to play games like MSFS, Space Engineers, and Icarus. Currently have a 4790k with a 1060 6GB if that is relevant. I was looking at the 7800X3D and 13700k and was wondering how they compare. I have heard the 7800X3D is much better for MSFS but I was interested to know if this difference holds for other games as well. Also unsure of if I should pair the 7800X3D with a B650 or X670/E. I would love some more info, thank you.

The compatibility concerns regarding Ryzen 7000 processors and faster RAM have largely been addressed, but some users still report minor hiccups. It’s best to check the latest reviews for up-to-date information.

The 7800X3D generally outperforms most games, except for a couple like one of the Final Fantasy titles and Starfield. The 13700K shows significant gains in professional settings, nearly doubling the performance. For players, the 7800X3D is likely the superior choice, particularly because it consumes about a third of the power of the 13700K. Would you like any additional features from the X670 boards? It mainly adds more connectivity, but its impact depends on the specific board design—some high-end options match the capabilities of more affordable B650 models. The situation is complex. Current speeds are sufficient if you're using the latest AGESA, and some users have successfully run DDR5 8000 on AM5 with certain motherboards, though tighter timings (CL30/32) usually yield better results.

Thanks for the details! I was considering DDR5 6000 CL30 RAM to avoid any problems. For connectivity, the case I’m evaluating includes USB 3.0, a type C header, and dual headphone/audio ports. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 would be great, along with sufficient USB ports for my flight sim setup. A powered USB hub could also work. I’d also like at least one NVMe Gen 4 slot. Right now I’m looking at the MSI Tomahawk B650.
