I hope Microcenter released a 13th-gen i5 model. Reports suggest the 14th generation will use LGA 1700, which is great. There might be a discounted flagship from the 14th generation in a few years if that happens. The downside is that Microcenter's combo boards are currently underwhelming, making it harder to get a used i9 or similar.
It's a refreshed version of the 14th gen desktop, not a completely new release, meaning 1700 isn't a finished platform. The Consumer Desktop version was either promoted or dropped, likely moving to a different socket. Expect better silicon quality and more efficient chips, though IPC gains won't be significant.
