Initially, using DDR3 RAM could negatively impact performance, depending on the game. It's important to overclock the i7-4770k and ensure the PC runs smoothly. If you skip overclocking the CPU, frame rates will drop significantly. For these specifications, a 1440p 144Hz monitor is sufficient, and future upgrades should focus on RAM and motherboard for DDR4 support. Upgrading isn't essential unless you aim for higher than 120 fps in most games at these resolutions. You'll be content with your current setup, just remember to fine-tune graphics settings and optimize your PC overall.

Honestly, it's hard for me to spot obvious distinctions between resolutions. For example, I don't really see any change when watching on my TV (1360x768) versus my monitor (1080p). The only times I do notice a difference are when I record gameplay on the TV and play it on the monitor. I think the gap between 1440p and 1080p would be similar for me.
So, I suggest going for ultra on 1080p.

Based on my own experience with a 1070 and a 1440p 144hz monitor, I would choose 1080P ultra for better FPS. However, it really depends on personal preference—if smoother gameplay from higher FPS matters more, then 1080p is ideal, especially if the main focus is on performance. For those prioritizing visual quality over speed, 1440p offers a sharper display but with some trade-offs in performance and detail.
