I’m preparing a fresh setup soon. The new machine comes with an AMD Ryzen™ 5 5600X on an ASUS TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS motherboard and includes brand-new 3200MHz RAM. There are options for Corsair 178300 Vengeance LPX, 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) with 3200 MHz speed. Your current PC has 3000MHz RAM from Corsair Vengeance RGB, 16 GB at 3000 MHz. Deciding whether to upgrade or adjust your order depends on performance needs and budget. Consider the benefits of higher frequency and compare prices before making a choice.
Ryzen may offer improved performance with high-speed memory above 3200Mhz. The second kit is more costly because of the RGB lighting. The main advantage is only marginally better case timing, but clock speed is slower. I’d choose the first kit unless you need the RGB features, which come at a higher price. P.S. Set it to text-to-automatic when posting.
The clock speeds for the 3000MHz RAM are more efficient than the 3200MHz ones, so you won’t notice a big performance boost. I’d keep the 3000MHz RAM and aim for around 3600MHz with comparable settings.
Could you call the shop to check the cost difference with 3600MHz RAM? Also, what timing improvements or better C*counts could you suggest?
For peak performance, consider using 3600 RAM. Reducing latency improves results. Would you like to maintain the existing system? Another choice is adding the old RAM alongside the new one in the upgraded setup. This would restrict you to slower speeds, but it might be worth it compared to switching to two modules per channel. The upgraded 3200 RAM would likely boost performance marginally, though not substantially. If RGB matters to you, stick with the previous units.
Fixed the issue, increased the voltage, adjusted to 3200Mhz – everything works now and costs less.
