Hello everyone, I'm trying to upgrade my old setup to Windows 8.1 from Windows 7. My system is quite outdated (Core2Duo, 9800GT, 4GB DDR2) and I've heard mixed opinions online. Some say it uses less resources, while others disagree. Which is accurate? Also, I noticed there are no drivers available for my motherboard, especially for On-Board LAN. What does that really mean? Can I still get an internet connection on Windows 8.1 with a wired connection (RJ45)? I followed the upgrade guide and the only warning was about Secure Boot not being compatible with my PC's firmware. That’s fine for me.
Keep using Windows 7, but plan to switch to Windows 10 at a later date. Avoid spending money on Windows 8, which costs around $80.
