You regularly perform a fresh setup of the operating system to ensure minimal issues
You can easily set up Windows 10 on a new PC or after a motherboard change. However, if you upgraded from a previous version and plan to transfer the OS, you won't be able to just install 10 directly—you'll need to use your original installation key first, then upgrade back to 10.
You need to perform a clean installation to ensure everything works properly, and make sure the activation process happens accurately. Otherwise, your earlier OS setup won’t matter much.
I believe some remnants from your previous Windows setup remain. Upgrading won’t reformat your drive, and since upgrades are limited until next year, any issues after the installation might lock you into Windows 7.
