I did that, its still got the metro crap on here. You have to deal with metro regardless.

I’m fine with booting from my system all the time, but does it offer higher FPS in games? I don’t have any games running below 60fps at once, and most of them consistently hit around 120+fps. I also need to go back to DOS so I can play some old games I used to play as a kid. Windows 8.1 doesn’t support DOS.

I tried it and I loved that they got rid of that touch screen shit. But it still has metro lol. And then they put those ugly ass search icons and shit next to the start menu where I normally keep my chrome and steam icons at.

I attempted to turn off the system's power management features, but it didn't work. The computer still starts up quickly, yet remains on continuously. Regarding the DirectX update, I can't predict its release date or confirm its impact.

It already includes an updated DirectX release, so Win 7 is fine. DirectX 12 is expected soon, possibly after Christmas, and it should deliver strong performance—roughly 20% to 50%.

Absolutely, it's a big improvement. Everything functions smoothly and there have been no BSODs like in Windows 7 or even with DX12 support.

The lower values usually result in better frame rates, though you won’t gain much more. Smoothness will improve slightly, but the increase will be minimal—just a few frames per second.

Current options are top-tier. Choose Windows 8.1 for significant enhancements. Many discuss Windows 8 as a setback similar to Vista, but that’s not true. It performs well if you understand how to use it. I view it as Windows 7 enhanced with Metro UI.
