Unless you rely on UWP apps or similar features, it doesn’t make much sense for someone using Windows 7 to need Windows 10, because they’re largely compatible and the updates aren’t significantly better on the newer version. I currently have both operating systems installed, but Windows 7 remains my primary choice.

Consider creating a virtual machine and testing it directly. Capture a snapshot of your existing system using Macrium Reflect. While you wait, install Virtualbox. After that, convert the snapshot into a VHD file with Reflect. Launch the VM as usual. Install Windows 10 for Assistive Features and add it to the VM.

Windows 10 brings a wide range of capabilities compared to Windows 7—some you might find useful, others not. If your main focus is gaming and treating your PC like a console, then the benefits are clear. MSDOS could suit you too (though it would miss features like DirectX). The options are broad, so here’s a concise summary: lighter weight, quicker performance, and a more intuitive update process. You can also run Linux apps on Windows if needed. GameMode enhances focus on gaming, while the web browser offers diverse tools. For games, popular titles include Forza Motorsports 6, Halo Wars, and many others available via Steam. If you want a mix of productivity and entertainment, you’ll find a solid selection—from email to streaming services, music, eBooks, and more. The interface is cleaner, updates are smoother, and features like Cortana, OneDrive sync, and improved security are now standard. It supports modern apps, games, and even some desktop accessories, making it a versatile choice for different needs.

Your perspective differs because we interpret "short" based on context. Unless specified otherwise, it refers to length or scope rather than a specific genre.
