It's interesting to see how Windows 7 functions on this setup. The recent upgrade from an older system with a 4GB RAM and Core 2 Duo to the same generation has made basic tasks like web browsing and music playback quite smooth. The processor occasionally spikes to full speed for background processes, but it doesn’t feel like a performance issue. The user seems open to testing the system further and could switch to a lightweight Linux distribution if needed. In reality, replacing the HDD with a smaller SSD and increasing RAM would be a more cost-effective improvement.

For W10 the recommended minimum is 6GB of RAM. Many users rely on Chrome for browsing, which together with W10 can consume only about 4GB. A simple Linux distribution would suit the older hardware better, though a Windows system requires more than 4GB for optimal performance.
