I was thinking about getting the R3 3100 with the GT 1030 setup, but the R5 3400 seems more affordable. Deciding which to choose. Also, this is my first post.

The iGPU in the 3400G outperforms the GT1030, making the latter a less suitable option.

The 3400G's integrated GPU is quite alike to the 1030, but the 3100 offers a stronger CPU. In the end, pairing the 3100 with the 1030 should give slightly better performance. For a build budget, the 3400G seems more cost-effective. A faster CPU compared to the 3100?

Sure, I got it. The CPU runs a bit slower, but the iGPU is roughly ten percent quicker than the 1030, making it the better option overall.

Absolutely, it balances things out a bit, though in the end they’ll be pretty alike—especially if the 3400g is significantly more affordable.

I understand the mix-up about the cores—3400G actually uses Zen+ technology while the 3100 is based on Zen 2. That difference helped clarify things. Thanks to all of you!

I think the 3400g offers a better deal compared to the GT1030, which seems overpriced. I’d choose the 3400g instead.

It doesn't seem so, though the 3100 offers a superior FPU, IPC, cache design, and overall performance. If the cost gap is significant, opt for the 3400G.

for GPU focus only, aim for models above 3100 with an 1030 rating.
if gaming matters, pick a 3100 plus any other used GPU like the RX 570 or GTX 1060.
