I just got my RX 5700XT replaced with an RTX 3070 Ti and upgraded to a 1440p screen, and I was thinking about moving my Ryzen 7 3800X next. The seller I’m considering has a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and a Ryzen 9 5900X at the same price—what should I choose?

For gaming and regular multitasking, the Ryzen 5700X3D is suitable. If your needs extend beyond gaming and require high performance with multiple cores and threads, consider the Ryzen 5900X.

Some creators prioritize fun over performance, skipping optimization for a smoother experience.

And what game is this? OP said mainly E-Sports titles so X3D cache wins over core count. A 5700X3D is still a 8 core - 16 threaded CPU, like the 7700 in this steam picture.

Indiana Jones didn’t catch the esports segment. He still chooses his 5900X in 4K over the 58X3D.
